Pinara Itaraka (Pi'I)

Racial Name: Pinara Itaraka The Pinara Itaraka, inhabiting the Northern Reaches of Laratia, are in fact not native to the world they now call home. Descended from a large group of stranded starfaring folk, the Pinara Itaraka have slowly integrated themselves into the culture of their adopted home, and have also gradually abandoned much of their mighty technology as it wore out and ceased to function. The Pi'I, being non-native to the world, are incapable of tapping into Laratia's magic-fuelling masna energies. In fact, sufficient concentrations of masna have an incredible negative impact on Pi'I bodies, breaking down their cellular structure. Despite losing the ability to create much of the technology their forebears once enjoyed, the Pi'I are still technically gifted, utilizing internal combustion engines and sophisticated fabrication techniques to their advantage. They have also adapted some of their technologies to use masna crystals, which contain the harmful energies in a way that can be handled by the Pi'I, as well as being capable of generating specific effects which are used in Pi'I 'masnatech' to great effect. |

Ekora Relin of Tranota Age: 57 cycles (~75 TSY) Born into a lower-class family, Ekora grew up fighting for everything she got. When she was old enough, she enlisted in the Pi'I military. Quickly rising through the ranks, within ten cycles she found herself as one of the youngest battalion leaders in Pi'I history. She is a fair and competent leader. Her tactical style has been described as 'brutal, efficient, and ruthlessly effective', as she utilizes any advantage she can, often attempting to take her foes by surprise. While she could be described as heartless on the battlefield, she is in fact rather popular with her soldiers, making friends of her underlings and doing her best to keep them happy. |

Taro Sorim the Teller Age: 40 cycles (53 TSY) Taro was practically born into his profession, as he is gifted with the natural ability of telempathy, the power to read and generate emotions in others. He also has a nearly flawless memory, and quickly developed his now-renowned storytelling skills. Often content to observe and record instead of involving himself, Taro sometimes comes across as aloof. However, he is in fact very compassionate and wise for his young age, and does not hesitate to offer advice. Being a telempath, Taro has the potential to be greatly hurt, as well as to inflict great harm. Taro is often uncomfortable in large crowds, as the veritable torrent of emotion floods his senses. This situation can be reversed as well, such as when he finds himself experiencing a strong, distracting emotion. He can unwittingly broadcast that mood, forcing his emotion on others without knowing it. As well, Taro can forcibly overload a victim with emotion, rendering them incapacitated and sometimes causing insanity. However, this is incredibly tiring for him, and he rarely uses this application of his ability. |
